A note from the Reader's Corner

If you are concerned about your child’s reading abilities, there are several steps you can take to help them improve. Here are some tips that might be helpful:

  1. Read with your child. Reading with your child is a great way to help them improve their reading skills. You can read to them or have them read to you. Encourage them to ask questions about the story and make connections to their own experiences.

  2. Let your child read to you. Encourage your child to read aloud to you. This is a perfect way to know what vocabulary words your child can pronounce. You can also ask questions about the story to gauge their understanding.

  3. Create a reading-friendly environment. Make sure your home has plenty of books and other reading materials available. Encourage your child to read for fun and provide them with a comfortable place to do so.

  4. Use technology. There are many apps and websites available that can help your child improve their reading skills. We will use IXL in our tutoring sessions.

  5. Get involved in your child’s school. Attend parent-teacher conferences and other school events. This will give you a better understanding of what your child is learning and how you can support their education.
